Day of Action on Litter

To celebrate Provincial Day of Action on Litter in Ontario, our extended team, including Actual Media Agency and Bubblegum Canada, rolled up our sleeves to clean up litter along the waterfront trail in Toronto. We had a wonderful day on a nature-themed cleanup walk led by Toronto Field Naturalists and were able to collect six garbage bags of litter from the trail.

By participating in a local cleanup, not only can you make a difference in your community, but it is also a great way to get some fresh air and exercise and to foster a deeper connection to nature.

Here are 5 tips for a successful cleanup activity:

  1. Preparation is key! Make sure you’ve planned for the weather and brought along sun protection, bug spray and plenty of water.
  2. Gear up with the right equipment. For a successful cleanup, be sure you and your group have enough reusable gloves and garbage bags to go around.
  3. Be aware of your environment. Keep a safe distance from local wildlife and steer clear of noxious weeds, like poison ivy.
  4. Dispose of your waste appropriately by using designated bags for recyclables and trash.
  5. After the cleanup, gather your group to discuss what you found. Celebrate your hard work and the positive impact you’ve made in ensuring a safe and clean environment!
